We are planning a spring DHLF DC Advocacy Trip in March. The plan is to travel on Monday, March 21 with congressional meetings on March 22 and 23. The return to California could be planned for Wednesday, March 23 in the evening (after 5) or later.
While the focus could change slightly based on activities at the federal level, right now the priority is to get Congress to assist with changing the Medicaid managed care proposed rule (specifically, eliminating the provisions that severely limit/eliminate supplemental payments through Medi-Cal managed care plans). As a reminder, this proposed rule could be devastating financially to California’s hospitals and could cost district/municipal hospitals alone more than $100 million annually!
Your participation in this trip is important as it keeps the DHLF and issues of importance to California’s district/municipal public hospitals on the minds of your Congressional representatives. This was especially key (with both Congress and state Legislators) in ensuring district/municipal public hospital participation in Medi-Cal 2020, the 1115 waiver and PRIME program.
Please let me know if you will be able to join us for this important trip. Knowing which members are attending will assist as meetings with representatives are scheduled as well as with logistics. Additional details (hotel, dinners, etc.) will be forthcoming soon.
